For
those of you who have a career in what is considered the
"adult industry" you may have heard that the Title
18 U.S.C. § 2257 regulations have been changed on May 24,
2005 and are to be effective June 23, 2005 after they were
signed by United States Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
Failure
to comply with these amended regulations are criminal offenses
punishable by imprisonment for up to five years for a first
offense and up to 10 years for subsequent offenses.
These
changes are unconstitutional and are clearly not focused
on protecting minors as much as it is designed to assault
the adult industry.
This
page will be updated shortly with many resources on what
to expect so continue to check it for updates.
I
am currently working with the FSC (The Free Speech Coalition)
to bring you more information on the law suit as well as
working with retailers and distributors to let you know
what we need to do to communicate and work together to ensure
that our businesses are not damaged by this as well as how
protect ourselves through precautions and compliance.
I
will also be posting what major retailers, distributors,
and producers are suggesting to ensure that we work together
on this shortly.
The
most disturbing change is that adult retailers are going
to be seen as “Secondary Producers” of any sexually explicit
photographs and film that can be found in such things as
videos, pictures, books, eBooks, adult playing cards, games,
and even on the covers of sex toys.
